Connie May Fowler (1959 - ) was born in North Carolina but raised in Florida which is reflected in her novels that explore the worlds of various Florida natives. Fowler has her B.A. from the University of Tampa and her M.A. from the University of Kansas. Fowler's novel, Before Women Had Wings, was turned into a television movie by Oprah Winfrey and earned an Emmy award for actress, Ellen Barkin.
