Dennis Lehane (1965-) was born and raised in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Lehane is a graduate of Eckerd College and received his MFA from Florida International University. The film industry loves Lehane; Mystic River became an Academy Award winning film, Gone, Baby, Gone received Academy Award nominations and a film based on Shutter Island was released in February 2010.
