Michael Sheetz began his law enforcement career in 1982 in a small suburb of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. After relocating to south Florida in 1986, he continued to serve the community as an officer with the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department until 1999.
In 1994 he returned to school at Northwood University in West Palm Beach, where, in 1997 he would graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree (summa *** laude). Upon graduation he enrolled at the University of Miami School of Law where he earned a Juris Doctor with honors (magna *** laude) in 2000.
During law school, Mr. Sheetz had the opportunity to develop his writing skills and in the spring of 1998, the University of Miami Law Review extended an invitation to join its editorial staff. During his tenure on the Law Review, Mr. Sheetz further explored his writing and legal research interests by participating in the production and publication of several volumes of the Law Review—the school’s premiere scholarly journal. Mr. Sheetz’ tenure on the review was capped with the publication of his thorough examination of the role of fantasy and ********** in online predation of children which the review published in January 2000.
Upon graduation from law school Mr. Sheetz served as an appellate law clerk to the Honorable Bobby Gunther an appellate judge on the Fourth District Court of Appeal in West Palm Beach, Florida. While at the Fourth District Court of Appeal, Mr. Sheetz worked closely with legal scholars, distinguished clerks, and respected appellate judges, giving him the unique opportunity to examine complex legal issues and author countless legal briefs.
Concurrently, Mr. Sheetz began his professional teaching career with his 2001 appointment as Adjunct Professor of Business Law at Northwood University’s West Palm Beach Campus. Additionally, in 2003 Mr. Sheetz was appointed as Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice and Law at American InterContinental University in Weston, Florida where he continues to serve.
Mr. Sheetz is the co-author of Forensic Accounting and Fraud Investigation for Non-Experts, which is currently in its second edition. Forensic Accounting and Fraud Investigation is a combination accounting primer and investigation manual for financial managers, accountants, and investigative professionals. It is intended to offer a comprehensive solution to the problem of fraud in business.
Mr. Sheetz’ second title, Computer Forensics: An Essential Guide for Lawyers, Accountants and Managers was published in 2007. This text is an introductory examination of the essential concepts any professional must master to survive in a cyber-crime investigation.
