| || Mama Does Time: a Mace Bauer Mystery (2008)|
Meet Mama: a true Southern woman with impeccable manners, sherbet-colored pantsuits, and four prior husbands, able to serve sweet tea and sidestep alligator attacks with equal aplomb. Mama's antics — especially her penchant for finding trouble — drive her daughters Mace, Maddie, and Marty to distraction. One night, while settling in to look for ex-beaus on COPS, Mace gets a frantic call from her mother. This time, the trouble is real: Mama found a body in the trunk of her turquoise convertible and the police think she's the killer. It doesn't help that the handsome detective assigned to the case seems determined to prove Mama's guilt or that the cowboy who broke Mace's heart shows up at the local Booze ‘n' Breeze in the midst of the investigation. Before their mama lands in prison — just like an embarrassing lyric from a country-western song — Mace and her sisters must find the real culprit.
| || Mama Rides Shotgun (July 2009)|
Mama's fixin' to marry husband number five. But before she does, she convinces daughter Mace to saddle up for some country-gal bonding on the Florida Cracker Trail. The six-day ride is going fine until wealthy rancher Lawton Bramble keels over in his Cow Hunter Chili.
A one-time beau of Mama's, Lawton Bramble had a bad ticker and tons of enemies. Mace has her doubts about natural causes, along with a long list of suspects who might have "spiced" the cattleman's chili. Mace's worried sisters Maddy and Marty join the ride, as does her sexy ex-beau, Detective Carlos Martinez. With—or despite—their help, Mace is determined to corral this killer.
|Mama Gets Hitched (2010)|
From Publishers Weekly At the start of Sharp's charming third Mace Bauer mystery (after 2009's Mama Rides Shotgun), Mace's 62-year-old Mama is looking forward to marrying husband number five, Sal Provenza, a Bronx native. Alas, Sal's family tagalongs are causing quite a stir in tiny Himmarshee, Fla., in particular C'ndee Ciancio, Sal's brassy, hot-tempered cousin-in-law, who's driving Mama crazy with her efforts to help plan the wedding. When the murder of caterer Ronnie Hodges coincides with the arrival of C'ndee's hunky nephew, Tony, Mace worries that some of Sal's kin may have Mafia ties. Tony's interest in Mace forces her to make a decision about her on-again/off-again relationship with handsome local cop Carlos Martinez, even as Mace assists Carlos in tracking down leads that totally alter their original assessment of the motive for Ronnie's murder. Sibling rivalry, steamy romance, a surprising killer, and plenty of catfish and hush puppies make this Southern cozy a winner.
